Italy: Carrefour to host InPost parcel lockers at stores

Agreement for location of 200 machines

InPost has signed an agreement with Carrefour – one of the biggest retailers in Italy – to install up to 200 parcel lockers in 2014. Carrefour will be one of the main partners to host InPost parcel lockers in Italy. This agreement is part of InPost’s expansion plans in the Italian market, where more than 1,000 terminals will be launched by the end of 2015.

Cooperation with the owner of almost 10,000 stores across Europe – available not only in Italy, but also in France, Spain and Portugal – will see the installation of InPost terminals both inside shops and on the premises.

Automated terminals enabling the easy and unassisted dispatching and collecting of parcels will be available at: Carrefour Hypermarkets, Carrefour Market and Carrefour Express. The key selection criteria when choosing the 200 sites out of almost 1100 Carrefour stores was a convenient location for clients.

From the beginning of 2014 development of a network of innovative InPost parcel lockers in Italy has accelerated. Recently, InPost has signed a strategic agreement with TNT Express Italy, resulting in TNT being responsible for logistical services for InPost parcel lockers in Italy. In addition, InPost  cooperates with Banzai, the largest Italian e-commerce platform.

The expansion of InPost parcel lockers will support the dynamic growth of e-commerce in Italy. According to e-Marketer, in 2014 nearly 14.4 million Italians will purchase products via Internet and the average online spend per person will rise by 15%.[2]
