Which compartment size should I choose?
- Extra Small: 4cm × 23cm × 40cm - Best for - Letters, envelopes and very small parcels (not available at all lockers).
- Small: 8cm × 38cm × 64cm - Best for - Sunglasses, phone accessories, beauty products and other small items.
- Medium: 19cm × 38cm × 64cm - Best for - Shoes, books, handbags and everyday parcels.
- Large: 41cm × 38cm × 64cm - Best for - Boots, sports equipment, coats and bulkier items.
All compartments can fit a maximum parcel weight of 15kg.
Top tip: Your parcel should fit comfortably inside the compartment with the door able to close easily. If it feels like a squeeze, it's worth sizing up.
What if my parcel doesn't fit?
Don't panic - there's no need to squash or force your parcel into the locker.
- Close the locker door without leaving your parcel inside.
- Tap "My parcel doesn't fit" on the locker screen.
- Select a different compartment size and continue your drop-off.
It's that easy.
Already bought your label?
If you've already purchased an InPost shipping label and realise you've chosen the wrong compartment size, you'll need to:
- Cancel your label in the InPost app or via our contact form
- Purchase a new label using the correct size
Choosing the right size before you buy helps avoid delays and ensures your parcel is ready to send.
One parcel per compartment
- When dropping off parcels, please only put one parcel in each compartment!

More helpYou can try again later or the following day – our lockers are all emptied at least once per day. You could also try visiting a different locker nearby. Download the app to see how many small, medium and large lockers are available near you.
First thing’s first – strong tape to make sure it’s securely sealed. If you’re reusing old packaging, take off or cover up any old labels or barcodes. Take a look at all of our packaging dos and don’ts here.
Every one of our lockers and shops gets a daily visit from a courier, usually bright and early in the morning. Our busiest lockers might even get multiple trips a day. Our couriers will empty and deliver parcels for collection once per day, so if you're sending a parcel make sure you check for space.
Marketplace & Returns parcels The locker will give you the option to select your compartment size on the screen. Please pop your parcel in the smallest compartment size available that your parcel comfortably fits in - never force it in! If only medium or large ones are free, no worries - you can use one of those without any extra charges. Just check the app to see what's available.
Sending with the InPost app If you've bought a digital label from the InPost app you will have already chosen your compartment size. This means the compartment will open right away, and you won't be able to change it at the locker. If you've picked a parcel that's too small, you'll need to cancel your label in the app and purchase a new one.
If you’re on a parcel mission and juggling multiple parcels in one go, we highly recommend writing your 9-digit drop-off code directly onto your parcels (sometimes it’s called a send code). Of course, you don’t have to! It’s just a super handy way to make sure that you scan in the right parcel to the correct compartment.
You can find this code below your QR code on the email we send you, or if you have the app it will be in the “Sending” tab.
Another handy tip, you can add a nickname to each of your parcels inside our app - and don't worry, only you'll be able to see these names.
