An intro to InPost Lockers
Our lockers come in all shapes and sizes and can be found both indoors and outdoors. Indoor lockers are usually slimmer and taller, while outdoor lockers can range from small units to stretching up to 20 metres long.
Many outdoor lockers are also protected by bollards, which are simply there to keep the lockers safe in locations where cars may be around.
Before any locker is installed, our specialist team surveys the area to make sure it’s a safe place to use.
We want every single user to feel comfortable and confident when using our lockers, and to have the best experience every time.
Safe & secure lockers
Every InPost Locker is built to keep parcels protected. Lockers are located in accessible places and most are monitored by CCTV to help keep your items secure from drop-off to collection. There are built in lights so you can use them at any time of the day.
Once a parcel is placed inside, the compartment stays locked until the courier or receiver arrives to collect it.
Only you can access your parcel
Your parcel can only be opened using your unique access code or QR code, which is sent directly to you (via email or through the app). This means:
No one else can open your locker compartment
Your parcel stays private and protected
You stay fully in control
If you choose to share your code with a friend or family member so they can collect or drop off on your behalf, that’s completely up to you - otherwise, access remains yours alone.
Collections made easy
We’ll always tell you exactly which locker compartment will open before it happens. When you arrive:
- Follow the instructions on the locker screen
- We will let you know which compartment will open
- Stand in front of the locker (we suggest standing slightly back)
- Only your assigned compartment will open
This avoids confusion and ensures you know exactly where your parcel is, every step of the way.
Fun fact:
Opening the locker door takes about as much force as firmly pressing a doorbell or casually pushing a door closed with one hand.
And don’t worry - there are no electrics in the door itself. All the electronics are safely housed in the lock, which simply pops the door open when unlocked.
Simple, secure, and stress-free
Using an InPost Locker doesn’t need queues, face-to-face handovers, or tight time windows. You can collect or send parcels at a time that suits you, knowing your items are safely stored until you’re ready.
A reminder that, if you’re collecting a parcel, you have 3 days to pick it up.
Whether you’re sending, returning, or collecting, InPost Lockers are designed to make the experience easy, secure and worry-free - even if you’ve never used a locker before.

Help centreFirst time using a parcel locker? No problem, check out this page which will talk you through our all our services and go through the ins and outs of parcel lockers.
Every one of our lockers and shops gets a daily visit from a courier, usually bright and early in the morning. Our busiest lockers might even get multiple trips a day. Our couriers will empty and deliver parcels for collection once per day, so if you're sending a parcel make sure you check for space.
Our largest lockers can fit parcels that are up to 41cm x 38 cm x 64cm – and the maximum weight we accept is 15kg. To avoid any stuck parcels or damaged doors, please don’t try to force your parcel in if it’s a bit too snug.
You can try again later or the following day – our lockers are all emptied at least once per day. You could also try visiting a different locker nearby. Download the app to see how many small, medium and large lockers are available near you.
If you’re at your locker now and need a hand, give us a call on 0330 335 0950 – one of the team will be happy to help.
First, check you’re in the right place
Make sure you’re at the correct InPost location for what you’re trying to do.
- Sending a parcel (drop-off): You can use any InPost Locker or InPost Shop to drop off your parcel.
- Collecting a parcel (pick-up): You’ll need to go to the specific locker or shop listed in your confirmation email or in the InPost App.
If you're at an InPost Locker
Sending a parcel:
- Turn up your phone screen brightness
- Hold your phone around 15cm from the scanner
- Try a slight angle or wiggle
If it still won’t scan, you can manually enter your tracking number using the keypad.
Collecting a parcel: If the locker screen isn’t responding or the code won’t scan, the easiest option is to use the InPost App’s remote opening feature - this lets you open your locker without scanning anything.
Evri parcels: From 1 March 2025, InPost Lockers no longer accept Evri parcels.
